Dear Skålleagues,

 

We are extremely excited to announce, as an initiative of the Sponsorship committee, our first B2B event in the history of the Skål International USA. The purpose of the event is to invite all vendors and buyers from members of all clubs in the USA to showcase their products and services at a more reasonable cost.

 

The purpose is not to compete with the larger trade shows, but instead to give you the opportunity to expand your network of clients, and explore opportunities to work collaboratively with others in the industry.

 

The proposed date is November 13, in Orlando, Florida. We ask that you RSVP by July 13, so we can get an accurate estimate of the number of participants and proceed with the room block.   Also, we are working with the Orlando Club for all participants to join in for their November event already scheduled at the Bahama Breeze. We all know this is going to be an enjoyable night complete with fabulous networking opportunities.

 

Also, we kindly ask you to forward our event information to vendors that you might know in your area who might want to be a part of our event.

 

We are in the process of finding sponsors and speakers, who will help to make the event unforgettable.

As the summer heats up, literally, and quickly moves along, please mark your calendars and plan to attend some of the exciting upcoming events for Skål Washington as well as Skål Baltimore.   You can always check Skål Washington’s website, www.skaldc.org, for our future dates once finalized.  Currently our event dates include:  July 25 – Lillie’s Restaurant (Connecticut Avenue),  August – TBD, September 19 – Columbia Island Marina “Lobster Night”.  

In addition, please consider attending  Skål Baltimore’s Annual Crab Feast and Fundraiser scheduled for August 23.  This event is an All-U-Can-Eat crab feast with a fabulous Chesapeake Bay buffet in addition to the hard shell crabs!  The event is again at Kurtz’s Beach in Pasedena, MD. There is free parking at Kurtz’s Beach and Overnight accommodations are available for those interested.  This event is Skål Baltimore’s Fundraiser night so a Chinese “Raffle Ticket” plus a Silent auction will be taking place!  Charities supported are Chesapeake Arts Center and Light House Bistro.  All Guests are welcome so don’t miss this chance to visit with our Skål Baltimore friends and enjoy this great event!

Skal USA Focuses on New Club Building

Under the leadership of Skal USA President Burcin Turkkan and Vice President Dave Ryan, our national organization is attempting to grow Skal through the formation of new clubs, building on the success of four new clubs in 2017 and 2018 in Richmond, Southwest Florida, Central California, and Phoenix (Valley of the Sun). These new clubs all happened after 17 years without any new clubs in the United States. 

Burcin, Dave, and I attended IPW in Denver in May, following up on Skal’s attendance at the event last year here in Washington. We spoke to dozens of prospect destinations for both new clubs and strengthening existing clubs. 

The presence of our club members at the show was also impressive. The following SI Washington members were seen in Denver, please forgive any omissions: Assante, Dow, Evans, Ferguson,  Maravich, Pantuso, Pittfield, Rivera, Iman and Thompson.
