Skål Scholars Program

The Skål Scholars Program exists to increase industry exposure and networking opportunities to university students interested in pursuing a tourism-related career. An intensive one-week program integrates mentorship by hospitality executives, career insights, industry discussions, and behind-the-scenes company networking visits. Program participation will give students a deep understanding of the fields (i.e., meetings and events, hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, destination marketing organizations) that comprise tourism, the largest non-governmental sector in Washington D.C.

The Program is designed to:

  • Expose the younger generation of Travel & Tourism Professionals to the wide array of business’ and careers that our industry offers
  • Assign a Mentor to each participant to help with networking and provide career advise
  • Concentrate a number of industry visits, for the participants, within a short period, thereby highlighting the range of business options within Tourism
  • Create greater Awareness of Skål International among the younger generation of Travel & Tourism
  • Strengthen the relationship between our Skål Washington DC Chapter and the local universities in the region
